Thomas Lessman
World History Maps

     *  I've been drawing history maps for as long as I've been reading about history.  Of course my earliest maps were crude hand-drawings.  Now I've got a good computer, and a very good geographical map to use as a background!

As part of my book, "World History by Thomas Lessman", I intend to include nearly 100 world maps, showing the borders of known civilizations and peoples from prehistoric times to the present, approximately every 50 to 100 years.  As you can imagine, making these maps is an enormous project!  Besides actually drawing them, I have to use existing information - which is difficult to find, often incomplete or inaccurate, and usually conflicts with other sources.  There is also a huge amount of research to verify certain borders.  Then there is the work it takes to correct any information that is proven inaccurate.

If you are interested in helping me finish any of these maps (or if you have information to help make them more accurate), please email me at talessman@yis.us.  I'm happy to correct any errors, but remember to send proof of any errors.

* I created these maps with Adobe PhotoShop, using sources that are listed <Here>.  The maps are as accurate as possible.  Sources are often incomplete or conflict with other sources.  I do the best I can with what I have.

I appreciate information that helps improve the maps.  If you see a possible error, please  (Email Me) with sources to back up your claim.  I cannot make changes unless they are based on solid information!

All of my maps are 72 bit resolution.  I keep a copy of the original PSD file, which allows me to edit the maps if necessary.  If you are interested in helping, here is the blank map (without borders or names) that I use.

You can also see these maps in several articles on Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia.
